West Texas Children's Aid and Welfare Assoc adoptees 'page.

Back ground From about 1911 until near 1940, A. Rev. Nicholas of Abilene operated a Child Placement Agency. He covered quite a large area which included most or the counties surrounding Taylor Co. Texas. He placed many children for adoption. Some were wards of the Court and some were abandoned or given up for adoption. Very few records remain and most all adoption cases were sealed. Thereby creating a very difficult problem for persons wanting to know where they came from, and what their roots were. This page is dedicated to those desiring to know their birth parents.

My Grandmother was born Apr 4 1923 and was adopted that summer. Her Birth name was Louise Marie RUDD. She was adopted by Thomas and Bessie Oliver. The Rev. Nicholes placed her for adoption. If you have any information on this adoption please contact. ETMW.

I am looking for information about a reported children's home in Abilene in the 1930's. My mother was adopted from this home to a family in Tulia, Texas, and was taken by train from Abilene to Tulia by a Brother NICHOLAS (nicholes?). Her name on the birth certificate was Myrtle Mae OLSON (OLSEN), and she has had great difficulty in finding her original birth certificate (in part because her birth records were sealed). Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, m.a. stratton
