MISC. NEWSPAPER
*NOTE! The only microfilm of newspapers from Rusk Co. that I've gotten
access to so far is the Henderson Times. I'm doing abstracts (or many times full articles)
of various items & will work my way through them very slowly! (It takes a lot of time
to do this!)
There is some WONDERFUL information in many of these old papers. Some of them
have a lot of information, while others just have a little, but I'm putting it all in (at
least the parts that mention people's names), according to what I've been able to find.
I will be putting the info up based to what I can find & how much money I have to drop
into the microfilm copying machine! Many of the older newspapers only have 1 copy left for
certain years (only one paper from a possible total of 52 since most were weeklies) that
have been located & microfilmed so there's no way this can ever be a comprehensive
listing. Even so, I feel that it is one of the BEST resources I've found & hence am
concentrating a lot of my time on it.
Here is a few articles from the BIRMINGHAM IRON AGE (1874-1884) that mentions some Rusk Co. Citizens.
