Sunday Evening's Fire
A very unusual fire occurred on South St. Sun. afternoon which called out the fire dept. & usual quota of citizens.
The old Goggan Carriage or hotel bus, discarded years ago, has been standing in Horace Turner's back yard a long time. A little child playing in there Sunday afternoon dropped a lighted match on some paper which quickly ignited. The little fellow jumped out & closed the door. Soon the flames were discovered the alarm given - but only the framework of the old hack was left when the fire dept. reached there.

Erroneous Report Corrected F. S. Groner
There has been some report current in East Texas to the effect that there is some possibility of Rusk College being closed. This report is entirely erroneous. Rusk is now having a good summer school, one of the best in history. It will open this fall as per schedule (Sept. 29 th). There is no thought whatsoever of school being closed... C. G. Truitt...
