You and he had lived close together for several years, and suddenly one of you had to move. But you kept up a correspondence. Then suddenly the letters ceased. You wrote and wrote, but received no reply. You did not lose faith, however, and realized something must be wrong. You kept writing off and on, but received no reply. Then one day, just as it seemed you must give up, you learned he had not received a single letter of yours, but had sent letter after letter of his own. He too, was about to give up hope. You immediately got in touch with him and started a new correspondence. Both glad to start over again. You never learned the cause, but that made no difference -- for ---- YOU HAD FOUND YOUR FRIEND AGAIN................................WRM ------o------
VICTORY AND DEFEAT Two years ago came this cry from afar- I will run for Governor, I will vindicate Pa. Our voters came to Ma's support And she carried the state by a very large vote; But crc (ere?) she was seated in the Governor's chair We heard Jim laugh, we knew he was there. This staggering truth came home too late We had already given Jim the affairs of the state. ------o------
Again to the polls, and sad to relate Texas was being watched by every other state. We had had enough; when we received our count Jim Ferguson was beaten, He was asked to dismount. ------o------ L' Bonvoi (??) Good bye Ma, the road was far You had to travel to vindicate Pa But since your talk has come to an end- We bid you farewell, we won't stand for Jim. ------o------
JIM AND JOE There is a gloom over Paradise Alley, cast by the going of our dear friends, Jim and Joe Walker. They have been with us some five or six weeks, and we have had many good times together. They are both good sports, and true scouts. In fact they are said to be the most perfect gentlemen in Troup 11 of Little Rock, Ark. and knowing them as we do we cannot doubt it. Jim is quite devoted to his horse, Graco, and some others, and at most any hour we may expect them by far a little chat. We fear the days are going to be long and monotonous without the pleasant little interruptions. And what about Joe and his antics? Just a glimpse of his sunny, jovial face is enough to chase away the blues. We wish for them good luck in life and love and for us true pals always. We shall welcome you back to Henderson at Christmas time - PSH.
