Thurs., Nov. 29, was Mr. & Mrs. E. F. Welch's 40 th wedding anniversary
& the occasion was celebrated by a surprise wedding dinner given by their children.
There were 57 people present for the enjoyable occasion, and Mr. & Mrs. Welch were
presented with 63 beautiful presents. At noon Mr. & Mrs. Welch were seated at the long
table which was laid with snowy linen & overflowing with lucious fruits, and a
bountious supply of good eats of all kinds. In the center of the delightfully appointed
table was placed the wedding cake, iced in white & decorated with pink candles. Mr.
& Mrs. Welch were served by their children. The guests were served a buffet dinner,
letting each one help himself. All children were present except 3, Horace, Alba &
Clara. There were 6 grandchildren present. The visitors were Mrs. Bessie Sanders &
daughters, Misses Mabel, Grace & Bernice; Mr. Ollie Brightwell & sister, Miss
Oleta, of Overton; Mr. & Mrs. J. V. Oliver, Mt. Enterprise; Mrs. John F. Hunt, Mrs.
Olga Compton, Mr. & Mrs. Bud Hunt, Mr. Claude Brooks, Miss Ester Truelock. Everyone
spent the day in joyful thanksgiving & we all wish Mr. & Mrs. Welch many more such
happy occasions as the one enjoyed.
