ROGER WYLIE

Roger Wylie is the son of Monnie and Willie E. Wylie. He was born May 15, 1923 in Henderson, Texas. His education was obtained in the public schools of Henderson and Rice University. He graduated from Rice University in 1944 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
Upon completion of his degree, Robert went to work for Humble Oil and Refining Company, which later became the Exxon Company. He worked for them at Ingleside, Texas; Florham Park, New Jersey; and Baytown, Texas. At this writing, he is an Engineering Associate in the Baytown Engineering Division of their chemical plant. His main work has been in recovery of light hydrocarbons from refinery fuels, energy conservation, and troubleshooting on persistent process-related problems throughout the refinery and chemical complex. He is the "father" of three major plants in the Baytown complex and has made significant contributions to four other major plants. He holds patents in sweetening operations, light hydrocarbon recovery, polypropylene manufacture, and aromatic manufacture.
Roger Wylie was the first chairman of North American Process Design Committee for Exxon Chemicals. He received the Senior Engineer of the Year Award for 1976 from the Baytown Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. He has published four articles in technical publications on light hydrocarbon processing and energy recovery.
Roger married Oneta E. Taylor in 1944. They had a son Pat (deceased), and a daughter, Beth. Roger married Charisie Williams Crouchet in 1978. They live in Baytown, Texas. Beth married Ken Hutchinson in 1972 and now lives in Kernah, Texas
