Bud and Mattie lived all their lives in Rusk County in the Chapman Community, off the Pine Hill Road. The old homeplace is now owned by a great-granddaughter, Sue Strong Hughes, and her husband, Joe H. Hughes. They plan to keep its possession in the family. The family has had many good times gathering there on holidays and special occasions.
The grandchildren have many pleasant memories of Grandma and Grandpa Wylie. Almost every Sunday afternoon the families gathered, and one could surely find several cousins with whom to explore the woods and have fun. Also, one could never miss the opportunity to look under the cloth on the dinner table to see whether there was something good to eat.
Bud and Mattie were charter members of Willow Springs Presbyterian Church, in the Chapman Community. The old frame building has been replaced by a brick church adjacent to the Bridges Cemetery, where they were laid to rest.
