Earl Wylie, the third and oldest living son of William E. Wylie and Monnie Meyer Wylie, was born on January 2, 1920, in Henderson, Texas. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1937, William Marsh Rice University (formerly Rice Institute) in 1942, and South Texas College of Law in 1951. He is a C.P.A. (1948) and member of the bar (1952). He has lived in Houston, Texas, since graduating from Rice Institute. He married Joyce Elaine Rowell on September 2, 1942. They have three children.
The first son, William Earl Wylie, was born January 22, 1944. He graduated from Rice University in 1966, and the University of Texas Law School in 1969. He is an attorney in Houston, Texas. On September 7, 1968, he married Susan Jane Hamner of San Antonio, Texas. They have two children: Laura Caroline Wylie (born July 6, 1970) and William Mark Wylie (born May 26, 1972)
Joan Wylie, the Wylie’s only daughter, was born September 1, 1945. She graduated from Texas Christian University in 1967. On October 19, 1968 she married David Franklin Wolfinger. They live in Houston, Texas, and have two daughters: Jennifer Wolfinger (born September 23, 1979) and Melissa Wolfinger (born October 17, 1981).
Roy Wylie, the second son, was born November 3, 1948. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1970, received his Master of Music Degree from Manhattan School of Music in New York City in 1972, attended the Julliard School of Music , and will soon receive his PH.D. in Music from The University in Auburn, Alabama. He is now teaching piano at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
