Haywood R. Worrell was born May 3, 1840, in Georgia. He served in the Civil War and later came to Texas, where he married Barbara Ann Harmon of Henderson. She was born August 2, 1848, and died May 6, 1909. Haywood died January 31, 1912. They lived in the Miller Community about nine miles west of Henderson. He owned and operated a cotton gin near their home, where he and Barbara reared five sons and four daughters. These were: Allen, Louis, Ben F., Grover, William Haywood, Elizabeth (Lizzie), Eva, Ida, and Minnie.

William Haywood was my father. He was born September 2, 1883 and married Beulah C. Cooper, and they both worked in their general store in Price until they retired in 1932 and moved to Henderson. They had two daughters, Alamae and me, Lorean.

I was born September 27, 1909, and married Earl W. Nicholas in the Gum Springs Community. We moved to Baytown, Texas, in 1942, and Earl retired from Exxon U.S.A., in 1973. We have one daughter, Shirley Mae Nicholas Ward. She is employed by Anchor Hocking Glass Company in Houston. Her three children are: Kenneth Ward, who was born June 10, 1951 and died November 11, 1980; Brenda Gail Ward; and Tracy Moore, both of whom live in Baytown.

My sister, Alamae, was born November 23, 1910. She married Hubert B. Draper of Price. Hubert, who had retired from East Texas Oil Company, and who died November 11, 1980, and Alamae had one son, William B. Draper, who married Barbara Ann Cooper. The couple has three children: Cindy, Pattie Lee, and Scott. William was employed with Coastal Oil Company of Houston. He died suddenly this past year.

The couple, Haywood and Barbara, had other children besides my father, William Haywood. Their son, Allen, married Sallie Cooper, and they have four children; Oscar, Mattie, Dovie, and Allie Lela; Ben F. who married Lovie McCord; Louis, who married Minnie Bell; Grover, who married Diamon Moore whose children are Rayford, Edwin, Vivian, and Berniece; Elizabeth (Lizzie), who married Sollie Crook, whose children are Cameron, Verlee, and Lorna; Eva, who married Bill West; Minnie who married John Elliott, and had three children: Thelma, Syble, and Dixie Lee; Ida, who married Earnest Pinkston, whose children are: Sidney, Geneva, and Hazel.
