ROY LEE WEAVER

Roy Lee Weaver is the oldest son of Willie Ross Weaver and Lola Pool Weaver. He was born July 15, 1917 in the New Prospect area of Rusk County, where he still resides. Roy Lee attended public school in the Oak Hill School until it was destroyed by fire.
Roy Lee married Anice Evelyn Coker on December 28, 1935. She is the daughter of John Erskin Coker and Jesse Chapman Coker, who lived in the Stewart Community.
Roy Lee worked as a lineman for the Rusk County Electric Co-op from 1946-1949. In 1949 he went to work for R.W. Patrick. In 1968, Roy Lee purchased Patrick’s Grocery and operated it with his family until 1979, when he joined his son, Jerry Weaver, to operate Weaver and Son Grocery located near Martin Creek Lake.
Other children of Roy Lee and Evelyn Weaver are: John Ross, who married Lanette Armstrong on October 3, 1959; Donna Lynn, who married Andy Stafford on February 16, 1977, and has one son, Bobby Dale Stafford, born April 17, 1979, and Johnny Ross, who now resides on the Laneville Highway with his wife and their son, Russell, and is employed by Texas Utilities Generating Company in Tatum; and Jerry, the youngest son, who was elected Rusk County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3 in 1978.
For the past thirty-two years Roy Lee has been operating a house-to-house grocery truck and travels over most of the south and east area of Rusk County. Roy Lee is a member of the Oak Hill Methodist Church, where he has been active in church work for the past thirty years.
