JUNIUS HILLIARD WEATHERFORD

J. H. Weatherford and his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Alexander) Weatherford, came to Rusk County circa 1877 from Georgia with the Frank Alexander family. J.H. Weatherford, the son of F.M. Weatherford and Lauracey (Sims) Weatherford, was born in Georgia; May 3 1851 and died in Rusk County in 1933. Mary Elizabeth Weatherford was born in Georgia, November 17, 1857 and died in Henderson in 1931. She was the daughter of Frank Alexander and Lucy Elizabeth (Christian) Alexander (daughter of Milton Christian and Mary Clark (Posey) Christian of Georgia.)

The Weatherfords made their home in the Bethel Community about four miles south of Henderson, where he was a farmer. They had the following children:

A daughter, who died in infancy, born in Georgia before 1875.

Lucy Weatherford, born in Georgia; married Thomas Monroe Beard of Rusk County; had five children; died March 28, 1938.

Sims (called Sim) Clayborn Weatherford, born in Henderson in 1881; married Mattie Jimmerson; had one child, who died in infancy; died in 1952 in Henderson.

Greer Junius Weatherford, born in Henderson, November 9, 1889 and died June 30, 1953 at Henderson.

Cora Weatherford, born in Henderson; married A.V. Milstead of Henderson, had one child, a daughter; died May 5, 1969 in Henderson.

Joe Weatherford, born in Henderson; married Florence Philgreen; had five children, one who died as a child; buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Jule Weatherford, born in Henderson; married Leree Sanders; had four children, two girls and two boys; died August 28, 1958.

Bertha Weatherford, born 1884, died in 1908 in Henderson.

Rhonda Weatherford (1896-1914), buried in Bethel Cemetery.

Pierce Weatherford (1879-1902) (estimated dates).

Epps Weatherford (1891-1904) (estimated dates) buried at Bethel Cemetery.

Lois Weatherford, born September 6, 1900; married Richard Edgar Strong of Henderson; had two children, Richard Keith Strong, who died in infancy, and Edith Strong.

Fay Weatherford, born in Henderson; married Elmer A. Hergesheimer.
