Beall and Sallie THOMPSON

Beall Thompson, oldest child of Little Benonie and Martha Jane Bryan Thompson, married Sallie Nannie Maxwell in 1898. She was the daughter of James Knox Polk and Lucy Estes Maxwell, settlers from Wilkes and Meriwether Counties, Georgia in 1883, who owned a farm east of Old London on Highway 323. The Thompson children were: Ora Bell, who married Lonnie Barber; Euna Bernice, who married Preston Gramling; Mary Octavia, who married Clifford Barber; Jennie Lee, who married Walker Stewart; Grant, who married Alma C. Wise; J. B., who married Ruth Goss; Homer, who never married; and Sallie Bell, who married Alan Hammer. Beall and Sallie Thompson owned a farm located at the intersection of highways 840 and 2012 in northwest Rusk County. Beall died in 1911 and Sallie in 1912. The nine children lived with their grandparents, Little Benonie and Martha Jane Bryan Thompson. Beall and Sallie are buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
