Andrew McDonald Richardson, the oldest child of Brooks Washington Richardson and his wife, Eliza Jane Bullard, was born May 10, 1852 in Rusk County near the Harmony Hill community. He grew up on his father’s farm and married Lucy Ellen Findley, daughter of George and Lucinda Connelly Findley, on January 15, 1872. They lived in Rusk County, where he farmed and they reared their family until 1905 when he sold his farm and moved first to Young County, then to Elmdale, Taylor County, where he ran a general merchandise store. They didn’t like West Texas, so they moved back to East Texas for several years.

In about 1916, Andrew and Lucy, with their daughter, Annie, and her husband Lemuel Adams, and their children moved to New Mexico in a covered wagon and homesteaded near Mountainair. Again the western country, so different from the forests and waterways of East Texas, did not please them, so they all moved back "home" the next year. Later Andrew and Lucy bought a home in Anson, Jones County, Texas and lived there until poor health force them to live with some of their children. Lucy died of dropsy July 13, 1921 at Hawkins, Wood County. Andrew went to live with a daughter, Augusta Lynch, and her husband Andrew, in Oklahoma. Four years later he married a widow, Mrs. Della Waller, and they lived near Healdton, Oklahoma until his death December 11, 1930. He is buried in Dixie cemetery near Healdton.

The Richardsons were kind, pious people and wise and loving parents, who practiced their Christian faith all their lives. They had eight children, all born in Rusk County. John Thomas married Mattie Adams, and they moved to El Centro, California. Augusta Mae married Andrew Lynch. They lived in southern Oklahoma. Margaret Elena married David Gad?epper, and they made their home in East Texas. George Brooks married Roxie Robinson. They lived near Abilene, Texas for many years, then moved to Big Spring, Texas. Another son, Andrew, married Dora Dean, and they lived in East Texas. Next to the youngest was Eunice Jane, who married William Dennis ??ee, a member of an early Rusk County family. They made their home in Abilene, Texas. The youngest child was Annie Emma, who married Lemuel Adams and lived many years in Upshur County.

Many descendants of Andrew Lucy live in East Texas, and those who live elsewhere still feel that their roots are in Rusk County.
