Robert W. McDougal was born in El Paso on the Fort Bliss Army Base, where his father was a career Army man.  After his father retired from the Army, the family moved to Houston, where Robert went to the public schools there.

Robert W. McDougal was in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1967 and served on the “USS America Aircraft Carrier.”  During the summer of 1968 he married Martha Strong, a native of Rusk County, Texas, and they moved back to Rusk County in 1973 and now live in Henderson.

Robert is now with Sun Production Company and helps to maintain wells in the East Texas oil fields.  Martha has an interesting profession.  She works as a petroleum landman and does title analysis, leasing, and other related matters in the oil industry.

Robert and Martha have one daughter, Amanda, who is a student in Montgomery Elementary School.  The McDougal family enjoys family activities such as camping, hunting, the Girls Softball Association, and school related activities.

Robert, the “city slicker,” has fallen in love with Rusk County life style and claims he will never return to the city life.
