JAMES HENRY GATLIN

James Henry Gatlin came to Rusk County in 1853 with his parents, Edward Valentine Gatlin and Caroline Holleman. He was born in Tennessee, December 14, 1843 and died February 18, 1907 in Mt. Enterprise and is buried in the Gatlin Cemetery, Mt. Enterprise. He married Josephine Alzeia Haltom, April 24, 1967 in Mt. Enterprise. She was born October 28, 1842 in Mt. Enterprise when it was still Nacogdoches County, Republic of Texas. She died March 28, 1922 in Mt. Enterprise and is buried in the Gatlin Cemetery. Her parents were O. William Haltom and Priscilla Lundie Harris, who arrived in Mt. Enterprise in 1839.

James Henry Gatlin and Josephine Alzeia Haltom were the parents of the following four children.

Lundy Belle Gatlin, who was born in Mt. Enterprise, February 10, 1868 and died May 7, 1961 in Henderson and is buried in Gatlin Cemetery. She married Charles Logan Matlock in Mt Enterprise, March 25, 1882.

Allie Gray Gatlin, who was born in Mt. Enterprise, May 11, 1870 and died November 11, 1961 in Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches County, and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Nacogdoches. He married Mamie Lena Fogg, November 2, 1891 in Mt. Enterprise.

Bonnie Blanche Gatlin, who was born in Mt. Enterprise, August 23, 1873 and died March 13, 1901 in Mt. Enterprise and is buried in Gatlin Cemetery. She never married.

Walter Maurice Gatlin, who was born in Mt. Enterprise, December 31, 1875 and died April 23, 1973 in Henderson , and is buried in Gatlin Cemetery. He married Alma May Howell, January 2, 1909 in Mt. Enterprise.
