Vennie Lill Pool (named for a character in her aunt’s favorite book) was the fifth child of Joseph Dixie Pool and Ethel Irene Yandle Pool. She attended school through the eight grades offered at the Church Hill School and then lived with her aunt while attending high school at Troup.

At the death of her mother in 1919, Vennie returned to Church Hill to help care for the younger children. She stayed at Church Hill until 1936 when she and her youngest sister, Dixie, moved to Henderson, where Dixie was a senior in high school and Vennie was employed at Henderson Dry Goods.

In 1937, Vennie married W. O. Brown, an employee of Reed’s Department Store. The Browns lived in Kilgore and later Odessa, Texas, returning to Henderson in 1941. W. O. died in 1946. Vennie stayed in Henderson doing alterations and bookkeeping at Crawford Clothiers. In 1961, she married Hubert Crim who died in 1977. She has been employed for the last ten years as bookkeeper at Reed’s Jewelry Store.

Vennie Crim is a member of the First Methodist Church of Henderson, where she has served on the official board. She is secretary of the Gain-Goens Sunday School class. She has also served as treasurer of the Pilot Club of Henderson, Incorporated.
