ANSEL THURBER BRIDGES

Ansel Thurber Bridges, born in Rusk County, February 9, 1907, was the tenth child born to John Wesley and Fannie Bridges. He was only nine when his father died.

Ansel Thurber Bridges married Sybil Lee McNeese August 15, 1930 at Sayre, Oklahoma. He was working on a pipeline at that time.

Sybil Lee is the daughter of Joe and Lee Eller (Rhodes) McNeese. She was born August 15, 1909 in Panola County, Texas.

Bobbie Lynn (Bridges), born in Rusk County, December 5, 1940, is the only child of Ansel and Sybil Bridges. Bobbie married James V. Taylor, January 23, 1959, in Orange, Texas. Their children are: Steven James, born August 15, 1962, at Orange, Texas and Lisa Lynn, born February 6, 1969, at Orange, Texas. Steven now attends Lamar University where he is a sophomore. Lisa attends West Orange Middle School.

The Ansel Bridges family lived at Orange, Texas where he followed his profession as a welder until his retirement in May 1974. He passed away August 4, 1978. He is buried in the Bridges Cemetery.
