Sometime about 1840 A.C. and Elizabeth Robinson left their home in McMinville, Tennessee and moved to Rome Georgia. Their oldest daughter, Diadema, married a native Georgian, Charles Moore Alexander. Shortly thereafter the Robinson, The Alexanders, and a nephew (either he was a sister’s son or a brother’s son), left Rome and moved to Alabama.

Charles (1819-?) and Diadema (1823-?) had two sons, John (1843-?) and Tucker (1845-?), born in Alabama. Moving again, they came to Texas, settling on what is now West Main Street. Mary (1849-?) was born in Texas.

Charles and Diadema moved to the New Harmony Community, two miles southwest of Henderson. Five more children were born to them: James Andrew (1851-1932); Robert T. (also known as Joe) (1853-1911); Augusta (1855-?) Charles (1857-?); and Laura (1859-?). Diadema died and is buried in the old City Cemetery. Tucker, Augusta, and Charles Moore moved to Edom and are buried in the Edom Cemetery. Charles Moore Alexander’s second wife, Charlotte Coats, whom he married in 1860, is also buried in Edom Cemetery. James Andrew and "Joe" are buried in Davis Cemetery. Mary is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery. She married a gentleman by the name of Bell. Charles is buried in Los Angeles, California, and Laura is buried in Cisco, Texas. In 1861 at the age of sixteen years, John enlisted in the service in Tyler, Texas. He was reported on furlough on the last notation that they have, but his parents were told that he had been killed in service.

Tucker married Nan Moyers from Good Springs. Mary married Mr. Bell. James Andrew met and married Velinda Emmaline (Bird) Summers in Tarrant County, Texas. To them were born Alonzo Coleman and John Cuba. When Cuba was three months old, they moved back to Rusk County and bought a ninety-three acre farm near James’ father in the New Harmony Community. Here were born four additional boys—Robert Edward, James Augusta, Charles Thomas, and Finis Homer—and two daughters, Leila and Vera Josephine, both of whom died early, Leila at two years and Vera at sixteen years.

Alonzo Coleman (Lon) married Leanna Windle. They had five children: Bertha, Curtis, Zula, Latys, and Nelwys.

John Cuba (1880-1963) married Della Box (1881-1955), February 20, 1901. They had seven children: Birdie, Oswald, James, Gordon, Margie, Lodyce, and Avis.

Robert Edward never married.

James Augusta married Flossie Croft, who had two daughters, Leola and Juanita, by a previous marriage.

Charles Thomas married Eunice Yandle and had three children: Shannon, Jane, and Charles Richard. Jane died in childhood.

Finis Homer married Etta Mae Johnson. They had one daughter, Lodyce, and five sons: Homer, Grady, James, Robert, and Larry.

In 1850 Charles Moore Alexander made a trip to Shreveport, Louisiana in an ox cart and brought back the church bell that is now in front of the First Presbyterian Church in Henderson. He bought it for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, which was across from the First Baptist Church, where the Goodyear Tire Company is now.

When James August Alexander was married to Flossie Croft, the marriage license was issued by his brother, Cuba Alexander, Deputy County Clerk. The ceremony was performed by his nephew, Rev. Gordon Alexander, and attendants were his nephew and brother-in-law-to-be, Curtis Alexander and his wife. It was an Alexander wedding.

Augusta Alexander and "Joe" Alexander, sons of Charles Moore, married sisters. They were Ada Tipps to Augusta and Ida Tipps to "Joe."

Children born to Cuba and Della were: Birdie Alexander (1901-) never married; Oswald Alexander (1904-1064), married Dera Wesson but divorced; James Franklin Alexander died at two months of age in 1907; Gordon Emmett Alexander, a Methodist Minister (1908-1963), married Inez Jeffers of Dallas, October 25, 1932.

Children born to Gordon and Inez Alexander were: Monette May (1937-), who married James Lockey (1932-) of Palestine, January 30, 1060; Patricia Alice, born October 27, 1949, who married Phillip Jumonville (October 8, 1948) December 1, 1971. James and Monette had two daughters: Jacquelyn Alice, (October 19, 1962), who married Randy Browning June 6, 1981 and Jamie Elizabeth Lockey, born January 22, 1965. To Patricia and Phillip Jumonville was born Phillip James, July 28, 1972.

Margie, the fifth child of Cuba and Della, was born June 29, 1909 and married H.A. Baker (November 4, 1911) of Durant, Oklahoma. They had no children.

Lera Lodyce, sixth child of Cuba and Della, was born July 1912 and died September 1912 at the age of two months.

Avis Ray (born May 26, 1928) married James Daniel Robertson (June 17, 1927) on October 12, 1946. Margie Dell, born to J.D. and Avis on October 1, 1949, married Travis A. Stuart in April 1967. Three children born to Margie and Travis are: James Allen, born June 17, 1968; Jerry Del, born November 1, 1969; and Tina Renee, born May 7, 1974. They live in Lufkin, Texas. The second child of Avis and J.D. is John Everett Robertson (August 9, 1953) married Sue Parker (October 14, 1955) of Tyler on June 29, 1974. They have one daughter Melanie Sue who was born June 11, 1979.

Della Alexander, wife of Cuba, is a descendant of Hulen Duke Redwine and Rebecca McCord, a third wife. The Redwines were originally from Mississippi and Georgia.
