A.B. Turner married Sarah Elizabeth Strong, the daughter of Thomas Ballenger, who was one of the founders of the New Prospect Church, on August 3, 1865. To the Turners these children were born, all girls: Fannie Turner, who married W.G. Harrison; Abbie Turner, who married B.B. Ballenger; Cora Turner, who married L.F. Cooper; Minnie Turner, who was the second wife of L.F. Cooper; Esther Turner, who first married Virgil Vansickle and after his death married James (Jim) Montgomery.

A.B. Turner was ordained a deacon in the New Prospect Church and he served as Church Clerk of that church from 1890 to 1916.

A.B. Turner was also elected for several terms to the office of Justice of the Peace and served at least one term as Road Commissioner. He also operated a country store on the Henderson highway toward Marshall.

Sarah died in 1913 and A.B. died in 1918.
