William Augustus ( Gus ) Camp was born 1857 in Walton County Georgia.  He was the son of William Camp & Mahulda Keziah ( Kezia ) Shelnutt.  In 1872,  Gus’s mother, Mahulda Keziah died and his father married  Martha  Jane Leach Black, the widow of Francis David Black who died in the Confederate hospital in Richmond, Va. She was the mother of Mary Elizabeth, Sarah Jane and David Benjamin Black. Wm. Augustus Camp married his step-sister, Mary Elizabeth Black. 9-2-1873 IN Walton Co., Ga.

About 1881 Gus, his brother Joseph and possibly his father and their families all moved to Marshall County Alabama.   Some children were born there to Gus and Joseph.   About 1895, the brothers along with their sisters, Pinkney and Margaret migrated to Texas.   A son of Gus, told of them selling everything in Ala. and took a train to Wills Point, Tx.  Joseph and his sister went out to Hill County where Joseph's in-laws had already migrated.  Gus stayed in Wills Point about a year and worked to  buy horses and wagons.   Willie, Gus’s oldest son, married at Wills Point. Having gathered  the necessary  supplies , wagon, horses & tools they started to Panola County. The first stop was in Gilmer, unknown kin living there, and then to Kilgore and spent the night with Allen Leach, the uncle to Mary Eliz, who was in Texas as early as 1850 . They finally settled in Panola County at Gary where Mary Elizabeth’s brother David Benjamin ( Ben ) Black and sister, Sarah Jane Black Bone, had already settled

In 1900, Gus died with heart trouble and left  his wife with a houseful of children. Two son, George W. and Caulder died in 1906.  In 1916, Mary lost two daughters just two hours apart with pneumonia,  Mary F. was 21 and Lela M. was 18.  William Augustus , Mary Elizabeth , children Hershall, George W., Caulder, Mary F., Lela M.Camp & Delia Jane Camp Gary Carroll, are all buried at Antioch Cemetery in Panola County .

David Benjamin Black 1862-1942 & wife Sarah 1858-1942 are buried  Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Tx

Sarah Jane Black Bone 1859-1942 and husband James I Bone 1864-1945 are buried at Anderson cemetery Carthage, Tx.
