Joel H. Mallory: Deed of Gift

To: Cynthia Ann Elizabeth Wadell

The State of Texas and Panola County. Know all men by these prsents that Joel H. Mallory, citizen of the State and County aforesaid, in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and feel for my daughter Cynthis Ann Elizabeth Wadell, the wife of Thomas D. Wadell, and wishing to secure and give to my daughter a certain and inalienable property, do by these presents give, grant, and confirm to my said daughter four certain Negro slaves, towit: Malinda, a woman of black complexion, aged twenty five years, and her three children, towit: Diasoma, seven years old, Prince, of black complexion, aged five years old and Sam of copper color, age two years To have and to hold and enjoy said slaves, their labor and increase during her natural life, and if my said daughter should have a living child or children at the time of her death, then I give the above named and described Negroes and increases to such child or children. But if my daughter should not have a child or children at the time of her death, then I give the said Negroes above named and their increase to my lawful heirs, towit: to George W. Mallory, Mary H. Briley, James H. Mallory, Daniel H. Mallory, Columbus A. Mallory in equal portions and to their lawful heirs forever. In testimony whereof I here unto set my hand and scrawl for a seal this 26th day of Sept AD 1854
