Panola County Residents

The Index to Confederate Pension Applications is maintained by the State Archives Division of the Texas State Library. It is important to note that the pensions were restricted to veterans and their widows who had been a resident of the State of Texas since at least 1880 and who were disabled or indigent. Therefore, the index of applicants for Confederate pensions in no way represents a complete roster of Texas residents who had fought for the Confederacy.

If you wish to obtain a copy of one or more of these applications, you may do so by e-mail at archinfo@tsl.state.tx.us . Please state the name appearing on the pension, the application number and the address to which you want the copies sent. Cost of the copies is ten cents a page, plus postage. The copies will be mailed to you along with a invoice stating the amount you must remit to the State Archives.

The following list of 398 Panola County veterans and widows was abstracted from the State Archives database of 54,634 applications.
