Peleg Cross Spencer 1853-1931 was the son of Peleg
Samuel Spencer and Emeline Cross. He married Elizabeth Buoy and
Ida May Bell. Peleg Cross Spencer was in Vernon, TX before
moving west and eventually ranching in Idaho. He must have
divorced his first wife. He disapperared for a time and then showed
up in Hidalgo Co., TX. I am looking for information on his life
there. Did he and his second wife have children?
Additional information follows. Please contact me if you are

3. Peleg Cross SPENCER. Born 1853 in Danville, IL.
Died 26 Jun 1931. Buried

The Peleg Cross
Spencer family moved from Vernon, Texas, to Santa Rosa,
California, in
1897 by covered wagon. The family later moved to Burns,
Oregon,
and then to Owyhee, Idaho, where they homesteaded Big Springs Ranch
in
1901. Later Peleg Cross Spencer left his family and apparently
returned
to Texas.
He first married Elizabeth "Eliza
Jane" BUOY. Born 13 Dec 1853 in Lane Co.,
OR. Died 11 Jul 1940 in
Boise, ID.
Eliza Jane Buoy's place of birth is given as Illinois
on her sons' death certificates. At the age of eight
Eliza Jane moved with her parents to Illinois where she later married
Peleg Cross Spencer. Eliza and Peleg moved
to Vernon, Texas,
soon after their marriage and later came West. A grandson was
told Eliza Jane walked barefooted to California because she only had one pair of shoes, and they were for good. They had only a pair of
mules and a team of oxen. In 1900 they homesteaded Big Springs
Ranch in Owyhee County, Idaho. Birthdates for the children of
Peleg Cross and Eliza Jane (Buoy) Spencer appear to be too close
for Wales and Kate and Earl and Eugene. The dates are that way
on tombstones and were taken from death certificates and obituaries.
They had the following children:
8 i.
Charles R. SPENCER
9 ii. Kate Liss SPENCER
10 iii. Wales
SPENCER
11 iv. Georgia L. SPENCER
12 v. Earl SPENCER
13 vi.

May BELL.
