Ready for the Pruitt cattle roundup (283 KB)
Taken in Taylor County, Texas. In the past the cowboys round up the cattle once a year and sort out the three year old steers from the main herd which were then sent to market and the calves were branded. The Taylor County courthouse has the register of cattle and horse brands.

Oil was discovered in the sands from 250 to 4,500 feet and there were thousands of wells were producing oil in a 75 mile radius of Abilene, TX. History. Howdy!

The centipede runs across my head,
The vinegaroon crawls in my bed,
Tarantulas jump and scorpions play,
The broncs are grazing far away,
The rattlesnakes gives his warning cry,
And the coyotes sing their lubbaby,
While I sleep soundly beneath the sky.
