Isaac Luther Owens 

The following bio was taken from page 333 of the book entitled "Rusk County History" compiled and edited and used with permission of the Rusk County Historical Commission.

  Isaac Luther Owens was born in Nacogdoches County, June 14, 1871, son of Isaac Owens and Mary Campbell Owens. He married Fannie Adell Morris, who was born July 25, 1881 in Rusk County, daughter of David Morris and Safronia Catherine Garner Morris. (See Morris stories.) Luther Owens and Fannie Adell Morris married January 10, 1898 in Rusk County. They spent the first few years of their marriage in Nacogdoches County, .but later bought a farm in Rusk County and spent the remainder of their lives there. 

Luther and Adell Owens were parents of three sons and six daughters: Walter, who married Catherine Miller and had one son, Billy Gene; Marvin, who married Lena Morris and had three sons -Morris Ray, Marvin Harold, and Garth Van Zandt; William Owens, who married Odell Barnett and had three daughters -Dorothy Jean Manes, Mildred Fay Penney, and Billie Lynn Lowe; Velma, who married Hubert Sanders and had two sons, Hubert Jr. and Wyatt Owens, both of whom died young, and two daughters, Eunice Evans and LaJuan Schlegel; Virgie Mae, who married Grady Campbell and had two daughters, Janelle Grace and Dean Bowlin; Vassie, who married John Johns and had two sons, Joe Merle, and Glen Parker, and one daughter, Elaine Baker; Verna, who married Graham Hudman and had one son, James Edwin, who died at age four, and three daughters -Mary Alice Kennedy, Martha Jan Spears, and Margie Ann Ragsdale; Myrleen, who married Clarence Edwards and had two sons, Michael Paul and Stanley Owens, and one daughter, Patricia Dale Hollenshead; and Christene, who married Sellie Hudman and had one son, Roscoe, and three daughters -Sylvia Ann Haley, Patricia Maxine Arnold, and Christi Dell Hays. 

Luther Owens died December 25, 1942, and Adell Owens died September 15, 1943. Both are buried at Sand Hill. They were members of the Methodist Church. Submitted by Verna Owens Hudman Marcus Park I, Marcus -eldest son of Robert M. Park and Madie Collins, was born March 21, 1903 at Carthage, Panola County, Texas. My wife, Doris Slover, eldest daughter of W. W. Slover and Mollie Blessing, was born August 28, 1904 in Craft, Cherokee County, Texas. Doris and I were married in Jacksonville, May 10, 1929. On May 6, 1979, we celebrated our Golden Anniversary -a most memorable occasion.
