J. RAYMOND LUCE

 Jonnie Raymond Luce married Lena Montgomery in Mt. Pleasant, Texas on October 4, 1936.  Their first child, Billy Ray, was born and died there.

 Raymond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Luce of Bloomburg, Texas, was born January 27, 1915.  His parents had one other son, Horace, and were residing in Henderson at the time of their deaths.

 Lena was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Montgomery, who had six other children.  They lived in Mt. Pleasant, where Lena was born on December 29, 1914.  Lena’s mother was a Weatherford from Alabama.  Her ancestor was William Weatherford, a Creek Indian chief known as Red Eagle.  He died March 9, 1824 or 1826.

Raymond and Lena had four children:  Billy Ray, Jimmie Carol, Betty Jo, and Larry.  Raymond served in the Marines and his son Jimmie served in the Air Force.

 Raymond and Lena have lived in Henderson since 1939.  He worked for Atlantic Refining Company in Joinerville for thirty-six years.  He and Lena enjoy fishing and antiquing.
