William Riley Hutto was a farmer in the Church Hill Community where he was raised. On March 18, 1913, he married Arie Methvin, daughter of Thomas Methvin and Fannie Neal Methvin of Panola County, and they made their home in Rusk County.
Riley was born November 29, 1892 in Wise County, the son of William Nash and Carrie White Hutto. The family later lived at Aransas Pass, where his parents died about 1911.
Riley and Arie reared a family of ten children. These were: Bessie, who married Robert Rainwater and lives in Longview; Thurman, who lives in Henderson; Alvin of Ingleside, Texas; Joe of Port Neches, Texas; John of Alvin, Texas; Sidney of Houston; Charles Ray of Henderson, who married Ardell Brown; Annie, who married A. W. Conway and lives in Laneville; Bell, who married James Hinsley and lives at Whitehouse; and Billy, who married Lois Pace and lived in Henderson. Billy died on Christmas Day, 1981, after this story was submitted.
Riley and Arie Hutto are buried in the Strong Cemetery. Arie’s parents, Thomas and Fannie Methvin, are also buried there.
