Sarah Hayes of Rusk Co. TX

Hi, On a recent trip to Lordsburg/Shakespeare, New Mexico, we found ourselves in the very old cemetery (still functioning tho) and one of the pictures we took was of the gravesite of Sarah Hayes once of Henderson, Texas.   The stone is worn and the writing is faint, but she was a stage station keeper in San Simon, Arizona. Thought you or your fellow searchers may have a use for the info.

Note:  I found a Sarah Birdwell who married Benjamin Franklin Hayes on Feb 03 1859 in Rusk Co. TX.  I found a Sarah Birdwell, daughter of Elizabeth Russell Birdwell (1808) (1850 Rusk Co. Census)  and the 1860 Rusk Co. Census shows the Sarah Birdwell Hayes (HH 1377-1395) and B. F. Hays and son G. W. 3months old.   I do not know if this is the same Sarah and would appreciate any input.   Gloria B. Mayfield
