 O. G. (Guy) Hale, his wife, Olive and their daughter, Ann, came to Henderson in 1934.  Mr. Hale was transferred to Henderson from Huntsville, Texas, as a sales representative for United Gas Company.  Later he was transferred to Quannah, Texas, as manager of the United Gas Company’s office in that city.

In 1936, Mr. Hale was transferred back to Henderson as manager of United Gas Company’s Henderson Office.  He remained in this position until he retired in 1966.  As Garland Farmer says in THE REALM OF RUSK COUNTY, “Gas service and Rusk County history are closely related.  From a manually operated gas water heaters to gas air conditioning, Guy Hale was here.”

In 1945 Mr. Hale and his brother, W. M. Hale, established Hale Motor Company.  Mr. Hale remained with United Gas and his brother managed the Motor Company.  Years later Mr. Hale sold his half interest to his brother.

Mr. Hale passed away in 1970.  Olive Hale, his widow, continues to make her home in Henderson.

Ann graduated from Henderson High School in 1948 and from Baylor University in 1952.  She married Dr. Joe B. Haden of Ladonia, Texas, and moved to Houston.  They have three children, Kathy, Joe Hale and Douglas.
