My grandparents, William Franklin Gross (1861-1912) and Sarah Ann Wylie (1863-1945), lived in Rusk County according to the 1900 census. They had seven children at this time: Myrtle, Lola, Belle, Margaret, Frank, Robert, and Leona. Also living in their household was William’s mother-in-law, Mary Jane Carter.
Willie Belle Gross was my mother (October 3, 1890). She and my father, Alfred E. Davis, were married September 24, 1905. I was born December 7, 1906. My parents separated and each remarried. From my father’s second marriage to Charlie Belle Walters there was a son, Charles Monroe Davis, born January 26, 1925.
I married J. E. Carminati, January 22, 1929. We had no children. He died November 9, 1945. I then married Jasper Martin Williams, May 31, 1947. My husband died March 15, 1955. I later married Dwight G. Gill, January 28, 1958. He died March 19, 1973.
