LAFAYETTE CROOK

Lafayette and his wife, Mary Angeline Coats, both came from Tennessee. They were married in Rusk County, April 30, 1853 and settled about five miles west of Henderson where they lived the rest of their lives.
They had three sons and one daughter: Solomon (Sollie), Martin (Mart), Samuel (Sam), and Lafayette (Fattie).
Sollie was the oldest child. He was born December 7, 1854 and died August 1, 1935. He married Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Worrell, whose parents were Hayward and Barbara Ann Harmon Worrell. Lizzie was born April 7, 1876 and died August 18, 1955.
Sollie was a farmer, and he and his family lived at Miller, a small community, which is now named Joinerville, located seven miles west of Henderson. Lizzie and Sollie had three children, one son and two daughters: Jim, Verlee and Loma.
Jim Cameron, born December 9, 1897, married Ada Mae Huey on May 4, 1918. Ada Mae’s parents were James Colman Huey and Leeana Wiggs Huey. Colman left shortly after the marriage to serve in World War I. Jim C. and Ada Mae had two children, Opal Eloise, born June 27, 1920, and James Doyle, born June 6, 1922.
Verlee Bernice, who was born April 1, 1908, married O. E. Herrington. She was killed in an automobile accident September 10, 1937.
Loma Lois, born August 4, 1911, married Burnette Deason June 6, 1929. They had one son, James Byron, born January 28, 1932.
Opal Eloise, daughter of Jim C. and Ada Mae Crook, married Charles William Lowry of Texas City, Galveston County, Texas on February 6, 1943. They have two daughters: Sandra Jean, born December 22, 1943, and Ada Jane, born March 24, 1949.
At this writing James Doyle remains unmarried.
