Bernard LaVerne Crim (November 28, 1909-February 4, 1974) was a direct descendant of the Crim family that settled in what is now known as Crims Chapel, north of Henderson, (see John Wesley Crim family.) He and his brother Leon Madison Crim (May 17, 1905-May 11, 1971) were the two sons of Bernard Yancy Crim (November 10, 1880-October 31, 1949) and Dora Octavia (Dunklin) Crim (August 21, 1881-December 12, 1963), who were married at Crims Chapel on November 26, 1903. Bernard Yancy Crim was the son of John Wesley and Loutie Crim.
The eldest son, Leon Madison Crim, and his wife, Alma Ree (Beard) Crim (August 23, 1906), married September 18, 1925 and had two children: Helen Jonell Crim, who married Johnny Hedge, and Leon Max Crim, who married Nancy Ann Almand. (See Max Crim family.)
Bernard LaVerne Crim was the younger of the two sons, who were not only brothers but remained lifelong friends. Their two families and all of their children, at this point in time, reside in Henderson.
B. LaVerne Crim married Marie Earl Butler (August 9, 1916), daughter of Thomas and Dora Lillian (Stout) Butler, on January 2, 1934. Their first son, Travis Laverne Crim, was born to them February 17, 1935. He graduated with a B. A. Degree from the University of Texas and served in the U. S. Army for two years. Travis married Barbara Ann Markey (November 2, 1936), daughter of Frank and Vernie Markey (See Frank Markey family), on June 29, 1957. They had two sons: Travis Frank Crim, who was born December 17, 1959; and his brother, Kevin Blaine Crim, who was born February 24, 1964.
The daughter of B. Laverne and Marie Crim, Sondra Marie Crim, was born August 2, 1938. Sondra married Timothy Watt Farley (March 10, 1934), son of Watt Farley (January 31, 1889-April 9, 1969) and Martha Elizabeth (Hillin) Farley June 17, 1895-July 27, 1979). The children of Sondra and Tim Farley are Marsha Marie Farley, March 26, 1960; Timothy Crim Farley, September 25, 1962; and Timothy Scott Farley, December 7, 1963.
LaVerne and Marie Crim’s second son was born January 11, 1943 and named Rex Earl Crim. He married Linda Jane Clampitt (September 1, 1944), daughter of Wallace Lewis and Mary Lou Clampitt. Rex and Linda’s children include Melanie Lynn Crim (January 14, 1966), Christopher Earl Crim (April 22, 1968), and Laurie Marie Crim (March 24, 1970).
B. LaVerne Crim formed the International Harvester dealership, Crim Truck and Tractor Company, in 1945; and this firm is still being operated by Travis L. Crim and Tim W. Farley.
