Sid B. Abernathy 
Sunset MP

Graveside services for Sid B. Abernathy, 75, of Nacogdoches 
will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday in Sunset Memorial Park, 
with the Rev. R. Winston Goens, pastor and Dr. Bill Parsons, 
associate pastor, First Methodist Church, officiating. 

Born in Panola County, Mr. Abernathy was a retired local 
merchant, and was a graduate of Texas A&M. He served as a 
member of the City Parks Board for 27 years, serving from 
construction of the city baseball parks to the completion of 
the City Recreation Center. He also was active for several 
years in the local youth baseball program, serving two terms 
as president of the Nacogdoches Baseball Association. 

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Mize Abernathy; a son, 
William Sidney Abernathy and his wife Colleen of Nacogdoches; 
two sisters, Jo Ann Abernathy and Dolly Lofton, both of Rusk; 
and also grandson Ryan Abernathy and granddaughter Jennifer 
Abernathy and niece Peggy Lofton Travis of Lake Jackson. 

Family requests that memorials be sent to, Hospice of Deep 
East Texas, 907 N. Mound, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961 or First 
United Methodist Church 201 East Hospital, Nacogdoches, Texas 
75961. 

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
