Evelyn Cotton Allen 
Pleasant Hill Cemetery

Services for Evelyn Cotton Allen will be held at 2:30 p.m. 
Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in 
Hallsville with the Rev. Ricky Haynes officiating. Burial will 
be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Citizens 
Funeral Home. Mrs. Allen died Saturday, April 10, 2004. 

Mrs. Allen was born in Hallsville in Harrison County to Web 
and Essie Cotton. She attended Cooperville Schools in 
Hallsville. She was a homemaker. 

Mrs. Allen was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and 
remained a faithful, active member until her health failed. 

Her survivors include one son, Leroy Johnson and his wife, 
Dorothy; three grandchildren, Cheryl Allen, Joya Johnson and 
Jean Johnson; two special great-grandchildren whom she raised, 
Alvin Bernard Allen and LaQuita Allen; two sisters, Essie 
McKenzie and Joyce Cotton and husband, Roland; two brothers, 
the Rev. W.W. Cotton and Marcella and Pammie and Gloria Moore; 
two special uncles, Walter Cotton and Swancy Coleman; a 
special aunt, Estelle Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews 
and other relatives and friends. 

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Allen, 
and one sister, Gladys Cotton Daniel. 

The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today, April 16, at 
the funeral home.
