Obituaries 09-20-2004, Monday LONGVIEW NEWS-JOURNAL John E. Ammons Overton Cemetery KILGORE - Services for John E. Ammons, 49, of New London will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel of Kilgore with the Rev. Johnny Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Overton Cemetery. Mr. Ammons died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in Tyler. Mr. Ammons was born May 10, 1955, in Overton. He attended Overton public schools. Mr. Ammons worked in the East Texas oilfield most of his life. He was a member of the Grace Herald Baptist Church of New London. Mr. Ammons was a loving father and husband who was always ready to give a helping hand. Mr. Ammons is survived by his wife, Early Ammons of New London; two daughters, Teresa Miller and her husband, Will, of Woodbine, Ga., and Jessica Ammons of New London; one son, Dustin Ammons of Kilgore; two stepdaughters, Penny Pike and her husband, Mitchell, and Jennifer Glover, all of Longview; his mother, Dovie Ammons of Overton; two brothers, Mike Ammons and his wife, Brenda, of New London and Terry Ammons and his wife, JoNell, of Overton; five grandchildren, Tyler Miller and Tabatha Miller, both of Woodbine, Ga., Austin Pike, Madison Pike and River Pike, all of Longview; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ennis R. Ammons; and two half-brothers, Tommy and Charles Newman. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. today, Sept. 20, at the funeral home.
