07/09/2004, Friday Obituaries THE DAILY SENTINEL, Nacogdoches Nelle Cariker Aimer Out of State Forest Park Cemetery, Shreveport, LA Funeral services for Nelle Cariker Aimer, 92, of Shreveport, La., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004, in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Officiating will be the Reverend Tom Howe of First United Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Canon Jane W. B. Alexander of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, July 9, at Osborn Funeral Home. Mrs. Aimer was born February 1, 1912 in Cushing, Texas, and died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Grace Home in Shreveport after a brief illness. She was preceded in death in 1973 by her husband, James David Aimer; parents, Thomas J. Cariker of Clayton, Texas, and Zula Orton Cariker Martin of Nacogdoches, Texas; step-father, Edgar Lee Martin; a sister, Zula Orton Dale of Silsbee, Texas; a nephew, Bill Dale of Nederland, Texas; and by two sons-in-law, Ray Allan Barlow of Shreveport and David Rutherford Key of Jefferson, Texas. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Aimer Barlow of Shreveport and Frances Aimer Rounds and husband, James Edwin Rounds of Jefferson, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses: Nelle Barlow Lloyd and John Wallace Lloyd; Ray Allan Barlow Jr.; David Andrew Barlow and Sarah Norwood Barlow, all of Shreveport; Amy Key Keith and Frederick William Keith III of Austin, Texas; Hobart Rutherford Key and Evelyn Whatley Key; Swann Key Wicker and Luther Carrol Wicker, all of Jefferson; great-grandchildren, David Andrew Barlow Jr., Sarah Emily Barlow and Benjamin Aimer Barlow, all of Shreveport; David Grady Keith and William Garrett Keith, both of Austin, Texas; and by a niece, Geraldine Dale Brackin, of Silsbee, Texas. She is also survived by her beloved extended family: Luther Carrol Wicker Jr. and Shelli Billings Wicker and their daughters, Marlee Jade Wicker and Maren Faith Wicker, all of Katy, Texas; Michael Edmund Wicker, of Jefferson, Texas; Steven Garrett Key of Hurlburt AFB, Florida; Carolyn Ann Key and Devin Nathaneal Key of Temple, Texas; Steven Whatley and Myrna, Marina and Jonathan McKay Whatley, all of Arlington, Texas; Victoria Whatley Coats and James Coats and Nate Coats of Lufkin, Texas. Mrs. Aimer and her family belonged to Broadmoor Baptist Church, and then in 1959 with her husband became a member of First United Methodist Church where she served in the Gleaners Class and was an honorary life member of the Church Council. She was a founding member, in 1936, of The Reviewers Book Club, and was active in the Shreveport Geological Wives Club and the Little Theatre. She devoted much of her time to her community, serving on the Woman's Department Club, in the Demoiselle Club, and the Cotillion Club where she was court chairwoman and duchess chairwoman, the Colonial Dames, Hypatia Club and Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity. Pallbearers will be Bryan Holt Davis Jr., Bryan Holt Davis III, Frederick William Keith III, Hobart Rutherford Key, John Wallace Lloyd, Jack Steele Sanders, Luther Carrol Wicker, Luther Carrol Wicker Jr. and Michael Edmund Wicker. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice or to the First United Methodist Church Eternal Flame Endowment Fund, the Stiles Apartments at the Glen Retirement Center or Grace Home Hospice Care of Christus Schumpert.
