Akridge, 87, of Nacogdoches will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Watson and Sons Chapel, Center, with the Rev. Jason Hebert officiating. Burial will be in Old Sardis Cemetery, Shelby County. Akridge died Aug. 27, 2004, in San Augustine. Born Dec. 9, 1916, in Shelby County, he was the son of James and Mary Hooper Akridge. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II and in the Korean conflict. He was retired from the poultry industry. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Clarine Akridge of Nacogdoches; daughters, Ruby Jinkins of Lufkin, Odell Renfro of Nacogdoches, Pat King of Lufkin and Margaret Teets of Corrigan; sons, Carl Ray Akridge of Martinsville, Harlan Akridge of Center, Virgil Akridge and Jim Akridge, both of Nacogdoches, and Ricky Akridge of Covina, Calif.; sisters, Corine Holmes of Center and Macil Geeselin of Canton; 26 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today. Watson and Sons Funeral Home, Center.
