Cecil E. Abernathy 
Bobbitt Cemetery, Houston Co., TX

Funeral for Cecil E. Abernathy, 85, of Nacogdoches will be at 
2 p.m. Thursday at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with the 
Rev. Harley Patterson of First Church of the Nazarene and the 
Rev. Dempsey R. Compton of Oak Grove Baptist Church 
officiating. Burial will be in Bobbitt Cemetery in Houston 
County. 

Abernathy died July 13, 2004, in Nacogdoches. 

Born Aug. 30, 1918, in Brownwood, he was the the son of Grady 
Abernathy and Lena Grogan. He was married to Ava Abernathy, 
and she preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his daughter, Anna Compton of Nacogdoches; 
son, Billy F. Saxton of Nacogdoches; sisters Ulala Rieley of 
Burnet, Margaret Elliott of Fort Worth and Letha Rickeson of 
Austin; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two 
great-great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. 
at the funeral home.
