Obituaries 07-13-03 Longview News-Journal Sammy Adamson Rusk County MG, Henderson KILGORE - Services for Sammy Edwards Adamson, 71, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, at Trinity Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens in Henderson under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. Family visitation is 4-6 p.m. today, July 13, at the funeral home, 401 Martin, Kilgore. Mr. Adamson died Friday, July 11, 2003, at the home he shared with his wife, Emogene McCameron Adamson. Sammy and Emogene were married June 15, 1985, at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Mr. Adamson was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Mexia to John Edwards Adamson and Nova Ellen Southwell Adamson. He was president of Sabine Pipe & Supply from 1964 until his retirement. Throughout his career, Mr. Adamson excelled at the purchase and development of oil and gas properties. He was a graduate of Kilgore High School. Mr. Adamson graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches on Aug. 20, 1953, with his bachelor of science degree and the following year, 1954, he received his master of science degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He also attended Kilgore College and the University of Houston. Mr. Adamson was active in the Masonic Lodge, having reached the 33rd Degree. He was a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club, a member of the Eastern Star No. 630 and the Shriner organization. Mr. Adamson is survived by his wife, Emogene; his children, Sandra Ellen and her husband, Robert Howard, of Henderson, Nova Jan Adamson of Austin, Sam E. Adamson III of Kilgore and Robbie Nadine of Austin; his stepchildren, Ricky Don Greer of Austin and Debbie Roxanne Martin of Longview; seven grandchildren, Nova Fox of Houston, Tarah Laine Fox Morris and Jason Morris, both of Kilgore, Micah Andrew Colin Howard of Henderson, Robert Duane Howard III, Shelby Greer and Lauren Martin, all of Longview; six great-grandchildren, Preston Blaine Morris, Elisha Lyn Morris, Alec David Morris and Addison Elise Morris, all of Kilgore, Colby Howard and Aubrey Howard, both of Longview; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, John Nick and Nadine Norton Adamson of Kilgore and William "Bill" Lewis and Nancy Adamson of Lake Cherokee. Mr. Adamson was preceded in death by one son, David Allen Adamson. In most recent years, Mr. Adamson enjoyed traveling with his wife, Emogene, and spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their estate in Longview.
