Obituaries 2-4-03 Longview News-Journal Jo Edwin Alexander Services for Joe Edwin Alexander will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Parkway Baptist Church with pastors Jeff Roadcap and James Kirkland officiating. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Park Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Pallbearers will include Rick Gaston, TJ Kiraly, Adam Kiraly, Dennis Sanford, Dwain Hardin and Andie Stracener. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today, Feb. 4, at the funeral home. Mr. Alexander passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at a Tyler hospice care facility after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. He was born in Whiteface on Jan. 20, 1934, to George Paul and Fannye Alexander. He trusted Jesus Christ as his savior and, during his teen years, was baptized at Port Caddo Baptist Church in Marshall. He had been a member of Parkway Baptist Church for more than 25 years. He married Barbara Gayle Campbell on March 2, 1963, in Canyon. From there, they moved to the East Texas area and raised a family. They were together for almost 40 years. Mr. Alexander served with the U.S. Navy 1952-1955. After an honorable discharge, he moved back to Texas and began his lifelong career in the electrical trade. For nearly 50 years, he was a member of the IBEW, as a lineman/wireman. For the last 39 of those years, he was a member of the IBEW Local 324 in Longview. Mr. Alexander is survived by his wife, Barbara Gayle Alexander; two sons, Joe Michael Alexander of Dallas and Jeffrey Lynn Alexander and his wife, Jaclyn, of Longview; one daughter, Laurie Ann Gaston and her husband, Rick, of Hallsville; five grandsons, Jon, Adam and TJ Kiraly, all of Hallsville, Matthew Gaston of Hallsville and Josiah Alexander of Longview; one brother, Carnes Alexander of Longview; and four sisters, Doris Lee of Tyler, Dr. Janelle Sloane of Oklahoma City, Shirley Sivert of LaPlata, Mo., and Louise Renfro of Lordsburg, N.M.
