Harry Akin 
Oaklawn MP, Center

Funeral for Harry Akin, 77, of Center will be at 4 p.m. today in 
Mangum Funeral Home Chapel, Center, with the Rev. Kevin Windham 
officiating. Military graveside service will be in Oaklawn Memorial 
Park. 

Akin died July 29, 2003, at his residence in Center. 

Born March 29, 1926, in Palestine, he was the son of Love Harrison 
Akin and Annie Bell Rankin. He was retired from Coastal 
Transportation, Houston, and from the airport for the city of 
Center. He was a member of the Center Pilots Club and had served in 
the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. 

Survivors include his wife, Lila Akin of Center; daughters, Tonya 
Bailey and Shelia Burch, both of Center, and Tammy Williams of 
Pineland; son, Harry Allen Akin of Houston; sister, Pauline McRight 
of Harlingen; 13 grandchildren; and six grandchildren.
