Dura D. Allen 

HUGHES SPRINGS - Services for Dura D. Allen, 86, of Hughes Springs 
will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 29, 2003, at the First United 
Methodist Church with the Rev. Warren Smith and the Rev. Bluford 
Weikel officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Springs Cemetery. 
Arrangements are under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Allen died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Good Shepherd Medical 
Center in Longview. 

She was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Gilmer. She was a Methodist. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Smith; an 
infant son, Fred Duran Smith; and two brothers, Dartus Downs and 
A.J. Downs. 

She is survived by her husband, Russell F. Allen of Hughes Springs; 
one son and daughter-in-law, Bryon D. and Jean Keasler Smith of 
Jefferson; two stepdaughters and one stepson-in-law, Nell and Carl 
Tillman of Richardson and Jery Eason of Longview; three brothers and 
their wives, Edwin and Laura Downs of Avinger, Arthur and Mildred 
Downs of Avinger and Earl and Waulinda Downs of Sulphur Springs; 
three sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Luthro of El Paso, Doris 
Williams of Hobbs, N.M., and Hulene and Bill Taylor of Longview; 
sister-in-law Mary Jane Downs of Gilmer; eight grandchildren; 17 
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 
Viewing at the funeral home was Monday, April 28, with the family 
receiving friends at 7 p.m.
