Obituaries 9-25-03 Longview News-Journal Frances Corban Alexander Gulf Prairie Cemetery, Freeport, TX DAINGERFIELD - Graveside services for Frances Corban Alexander, 89, of Lone Star will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at the Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Freeport with the Rev. Chris Volz officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield. Mrs. Alexander was born Sunday, May 24, 1914, in Mount Pleasant. She died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, in Longview. After graduating from Tyler High School, she entered Texas Woman's University in Denton, receiving her degree in 1936. One month later, she married K.C. Alexander, and they moved to Pasadena. Eight years later, they moved back to Tyler. She was a teacher and taught second grade for 33 years. Mrs. Alexander was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Freeport and served in many areas of the church. She was a member of the Brazosport Retired Teachers Association, she had served as chairman of the hospitality committee at Brazosport Hospital and she had been a hostess at the Museum of Natural Science. Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her parents, Burrell and Lillie Huffman Corban, and three sisters, Ruth, Nelda and Dorothy. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Earl C. and Billie Sue Alexander of Lone Star; two granddaughters, Jana Haynes and her husband, James, and Angie Allison, all of Lone Star; three great-grandchildren, James Loyd Haynes, Amber Sue Allison and Jamee Alexandra Haynes; and several other relatives.
