Obituaries Sept. 02, 2003 The Daily Sentinel Mr. Davie Lee Alders Fairview Cemetery Funeral for Mr. Davie Lee Alders, 73, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at Laird-McGill Funeral Home, with Dr. Johnny Dammon officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Alders died Sunday, August 31, 2003, in Nacogdoches. Born April 30, 1930, in Fort Worth, he was the son of Gladys Vaughn and Bernice Oran Alders. He was employed by Hughes Aircraft Corp. as an aerospace engineer for over 32 years, retiring in 1992. He graduated from LSU and did his graduate work at UCLA. Mr. Alders was a member of Fredonia Hill Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge in El Segundo, Calif. He was in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. Survivors include wife Ruth Cummings Alders of Nacogdoches; daughters, Nancy Lee and Husband Tom Boxwell of Studio City, Calif., and Linda Louise and husband Vince Lowder of Tustin, Calif.. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Danielle Lowder of Tustin, Calif. Mr. Alders was preceded in death by his son, Alan Dale Alders, on October 8, 2001. Active pallbearers will be Mike Cummings, Daryl Cummings, Chris Cummings, Tom Boxwell, Bill McPherson and Travis Perry. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Men's Adult Sunday School Class at Fredonia Hill. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Texas Affiliate, P.O. Box 15186, Austin, Texas 78761-5186. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 2, 2003, from 5 until 7 p.m. Laird-McGill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
