Dorothy Sharp Akin 

Services for Dorothy Sharp Akin, 77, of Marshall, will be at 1 p.m. 
Saturday at the Travis Street Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home with 
the Rev. Sherrill Stiles officiating. Burial will be in Algoma 
Cemetery South. 

Mrs. Akin died Jan. 16, 2003, at Grove Garden Nursing Home. 
She was born July 7, 1925, in Dallas, to the Rev. Harold W. Sharp 
Sr. and Esther Virginia Jasper Sharp. She graduated from Marshall 
High School and married Jerry Akin on July 31, 1988, in Marshall. He 
preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1997. She was of the Methodist 
faith. 

The family formerly resided at 507 Jasper Dr. in Marshall. Jasper 
Drive Addition was opened originally by Dorothy's grandfather, John 
Wilson Jasper. 

Survivors are her cousins, Sue Merrill of Marshall, Joyce Jasper 
Woodburn and husband Gordon of Baton Rouge, La., the Rev. Earl 
Wheeler and wife Estelle of Marshall and Mary Wheeler Rogers and 
husband, J.E. of Marshall. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one 
brother, Harold W. Sharp Jr.
