Wilburn Thomas Salmon, son of  Mr. and Mrs. Eunice T. Salmon of Route 3, Stamford, enlisted in the Army Air Force on March 19, 1942 at Lubbock, Tx. He graduated bombardier school at Big Springs on February 18, 1943 and received his commission and wings. He later graduated from navigator school at San Marcus, Tx. He flew his first combat mission on April 2, 1944 over Yugoslavia. He was a member of the Italy based 15th Air Force. He married Mildred Brigham of Tuxedo after his enlistment. After completing his 50th mission over enemy territory , he returned to the States and was honorably discharged after serving his term of enlistment (date unknown--approximately 1945).  Submitted by  Wynelle Salmon Young

BURBANK, Calif. - Dr. Wilburn Thomas Salmon, a missionary in Pakistan and the Philippines
for 17 years, died Saturday in Burbank.

He was 72.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lacy Funeral Home in Stephenville. Burial will be in
Clairette Cemetery. Dr. Salmon was born in Clairette and lived in Burbank for 20 years.

Survivors: Wife, Mildred Salmon of Burbank; two sons, David D. Salmon of Orinda, Calif.,
and Jonathan T. Salmon of Palo Alto, Calif.; two daughters, Carol Marotti of East Islip,
NY, and Joy Salmon of Henderson, NV.; three sisters, Wynelle Knight of Graham, Bobbie
Gross of Bryan and Rebecca Allen of Morgan Field, Ky.; and five grandchildren
